A teacher has been shot dead on Sunday a matter of months after she was suspended from her post for allegedly being caught by the police in a compromising position in a auto with a 17-year-old boy. "We had a young woman. shot to death on the driveway of her mother's house on Mother's Day evening".

KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh is reporting Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier as saying investigators now believe DelTondo knew her assailant, and that the evidence will show her murder was "a crime of passion".

"I counted six shots that I heard", neighbour Fred Poore told local media.

DelTondo was suspended last November from the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School.

According to reports, an anonymous October email tipped off school officials to the 2016 incident.

The report said that at roughly 1:50am on 6 February, 2016, they investigated a auto parked near an old hospital in the town of Aliquippa.

The report, which was reportedly written by an Aliquippa officer, and later confirmed to The Beaver Countian by law enforcement officials as being authentic, described DelTondo as being in a parked vehicle with steamed windows alongside a 17-year-old student of hers.

Inside was DelTondo and the teen.

Ms DelTonda is pictured with her partner in 2015. The teen was not a student at the school. Investigations uncovered a relationship between the two over Snapchat and via text messages.

During the confrontation with officers, DelTondo reportedly told police that she and the teen were "friends" and that they were "just talking" because he was "upset".

She begged officers not to tell her fiancé "because he would get mad". The report had not been made public until it was sent anonymously to the school. She was an elementary school teacher but was suspended months before her death.

No charges were brought, but DelTondo was still suspended by the school.

"We were saddened to learn of the tragic death of Rachel DelTondo, apparently the result of a violent incident in the City of Aliquippa". We express our sympathy to her family, friends, and coworkers.

DelTondo reportedly contacted the bridal shop to tell them that she wanted to pay off the balance on the dress for resale, but she allegedly never received the dress.

Earlier previous year, DelTondo was in the press over a dispute with a bridal shop over her wedding dress.

A Pennsylvania teacher is gunned down at her family's home - but there's more to the story.

Rachael DelTondo was supposed to tie the knot in 2017, but only four months later, the wedding was called off. Her engagement was subsequently broken off due to the incident, reports KDKA. By early 2017, they finally received a check in the mail. "I really don't... attractive lady, friendly, knew everybody, talked to everybody".

Police have ruled the death a homicide.
