Kristen goes barefoot at Cannes

It really happened. The Twilight star Kristen Stewart made all the headlines with her rebellion against the controversial heels-only policy at the 71 Cannes Film Festival.

She posed on the red carpet for the Blackkklansman screening in a stylish pair of black Christian Louboutin stilettos and once her photos were done, she chose to take her heels off and walk barefooted on the red carpet.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival is well underway, and some of those attending have used the festival as a platform to show support for protestors in Gaza. Another user tweeted, "Hooray for #KristenStewart taking off her high heels at Cannes, what a ludicrous rule!" Although Stewart, who was a member of the film festival's jury this year, didn't confirm whether she removed her heels in protest of the French festival's rule forbidding women from wearing flats, it was assumed that she did it on objective as she has spoken in the past against the arcane dress code. She told the outlet that the hosts and hostesses were reminded that there is no rule stating that a woman's heels must be a certain height.

Cannes' alleged high heels only policy causes controversy every year when female stars walk the festival's red carpet in their glamorous gowns and fashionable footwear.

"If you're not asking guys to wear heels and a dress, you can't ask me either", she stated emphatically at the time. You can not come in.' Then (I'm going to say), 'Neither is my friend. She had then said, "Things have to change immediately. Does he have to wear heels?'" "It can work both ways".

Cannes is renowned for attracting the world's most attractive people for a week of breathtaking red carpet moments.

"I feel like you can't ask people that any more - it's a given".

Stewart isn't the first to go barefoot at Cannes, in 2016 actress Julia Roberts went shoeless to the premiere of Money Monster.
