Russian President Vladimir Putin became the first recipient of China's friendship medal on Friday, with Chinese President Xi Jinping calling the foreign leader his "best, most intimate friend".

But Trump on Friday called on world leaders to allow Russian Federation back into the G7, the group of leading industrialized democracies.

The Russian President stated that U.S. leader Donald Trump in their latest conversation expressed concern about a new round of the arms race.

"Both countries really use their relationship to showcase [that] there is an alternative to the American hegemony, and they've been doing that for a while even before Trump", she said.

Xi, whose government is locked in tough negotiations with the United States to avoid a trade war, said World Trade Organisation rules and the multilateral trading system should be upheld to build an open world economy.

"I think Putin's probably going, 'Man, I wish Hillary won, '" Trump said. He says he agrees with that, adding that a thorough discussion is needed to address the issue.

Putin said it was not Russia's decision to quit the G7, saying he would be happy to see G7 leaders in Russian Federation. This summit is the first since India and Pakistan were accepted as full members of the SCO in June 2017, a sign of increased cooperation between Eastern nations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticized the USA withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal in a speech at a regional summit in China.

Trump's rejection of the global climate accord and Iran nuclear deal, supported by the European Union and Canada is going to be another flashpoint in the increasingly acrimonious relationship between Washington and its Western allies.

Wang Huning read out the order of award, which is conferred to recognize Putin's long-time devotion and important contribution to good neighborliness and friendship between Russian Federation and China, and to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination.

The combined purchasing power of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is greater than that of the G7, Putin said.

Washington's relations with Moscow have been particularly strained in the wake of the 2016 US presidential election, which USA intelligence agencies said was targeted by Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, Putin and Trump have mentioned Vienna as a possible venue for their summit, but no decision has been made, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Qingdao yesterday.

Xi and Putin and others pledged their support of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal from which President Donald Trump withdrew the US last month.

"Both share scepticism towards American hegemony and distrust United States intentions, both are authoritarian personalistic rulers", he said.
