Gerard Pique insists he harbours no bad feelings towards Antoine Griezmann after the France global reaffirmed his commitment to Atletico Madrid.

The France striker had been heavily linked with a €100 million (£88 million) move to Barcelona this summer, having a year ago been a reported target for Manchester United.

"They told me that it's normal for you to be offered more money where you're the club's main player", she explained on the phone in the documentary in which Griezmann announced his decision, relaying her discussions with the Blaugrana.

He is now with the France squad, preparing for the World Cup, as Les Bleus kick off their campaign against Australia on June 16th.

Griezmann, 27, joined Atletico in July 2014 from Real Sociedad and has finished top scorer with the Madrid side in each season he has been at the club.

"I feel there are things to do with Atletico", Griezmann added.

"What makes me wonder is that if they bring players can win the Champions here and walk into the club's history".

Griezmann detailed his struggles with making the life changing decision in the unprecedented documentary, showing phone conversations he had with his sister and agent Maud and his deliberations while visiting his horses.

" But the truth is what I am going to say now."

"They are doing everything they can to keep Atletico growing and so that they can play the Champions League final, hopefully at home [in 2019]".

Despite most eyes being on the World Cup, Griezmann's announcement came at a lull after the opening game, but fans were frustrated with the drawn-out announcement.
