Uruguay worldwide midfielder Torreira is set to complete his £26.5m (€30m) move from Sampdoria today after travelling to London from Moscow.

Torreira was a key part of the South-American team who were knocked out by France on Friday.

Sampdoria's Uruguayan midfielder Torreira is understood to be the next player through the door at the club, with a £26m deal with the Italian side reportedly now wrapped up following Uruguay's elimination from the World Cup.

On Sunday, the Uruguayan FA announced that 17 of the 23 players had departed from Russian Federation and were flying home to Montevideo.

Arsenal asked Torreira to fly straight from Russian Federation to England and, having touched down in London, he is expected to undergo a medical at London Colney on Monday.

New boss Unai Emery has been in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer and Torreira emerged as his prime target with widespread speculation claiming we were in advanced talks with Sampdoria before the World Cup started last month. Let's hope he can bring that same performance level to the Premier League.

Lucas Torreira has spoken out ahead of his summer move to Arsenal. Ernesto Valverde has told the Portuguese worldwide he isn't part of his plans for next season after failing to achieve the level required at the Camp Nou.

Steven N'Zonzi has always been told that he won't be leaving Sevilla for less than his 40 million euro release clause and Arsenal are reportedly in talks to sign the midfielder.

Those players who haven't been involved in the showpiece tournament over in Russian Federation have now returned to Arsenal's training ground to start their pre-season preparations, and of course, meet their new manager. "We are satisfied with what they offered us, but let's wait a little longer until the World Cup ends".
