Chelsea sack Conte as Sarri move inches closer

Though each and every sign points towards the fact that Conte has indeed been sacked with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and John Terry confirming it on their social media accounts, the club are yet to make an official announcement on the sacking.

The Premier League side, by all accounts, parted company with Conte on Thursday as they look to have former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri appointed as their new head coach in the very near future.

Chelsea confirmed the exit of Antonio Conte on Friday morning after two seasons at the club.

The Italian guided Chelsea to the Premier League title just one year ago in what was his debut season at Stamford Bridge. Carlo Cudicini is still at the club and he is likely to help Eddie Newton take training today.

"Sarri is close to being new Chelsea manager".

The latter report also suggests that Conte is prepared to take legal against Chelsea if they renege on any part of the compensation agreement, which would probably mean going before Federation Internationale de Football Association to plead his case.

The main reason for the prolonged saga has been compensation. Gianfranco Zola will return to Chelsea on Sarri's staff.

Napoli are also expecting compensation of around £4.5million for Sarri, who is under contract even though he is no longer their coach.

They reportedly include Brazil-born Italy worldwide midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, CSKA Moscow's Russian playmaker Aleksandr Golovin and Italian defender Daniele Rugani from Juventus, the side that edged Napoli in the Serie A title race.
