Online shoppers purchased more than 100 million products worldwide during Amazon.com Inc's (AMZN.O) annual Prime Day sale this week, despite glitches on its mobile app and websites that prevented several customers from placing orders.

Best-sellers so far include Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Instant Pot 6 Qt 7-in-1 Multi Use and Echo Dot.

The most successful categories, with more than 5 million items sold included Toys, Beauty Products, PCs and Computer Accessories, Apparel and Kitchen Products.

Shoppers also revealed what ultimately drives them to buy elsewhere for the purchases made off the site: 46 percent said they could find cheaper pricing off Amazon, 25 percent cited more convenient shipping options, 25 percent said other retailers had more attractive loyalty programs, and 24 percent credited a desire for in-store experiences. GBH Insights estimated Amazon Prime Day sales at $3.6 billion, while RBC Capital's Mark Mahaney estimated a haul of about $2 billion.
