United States President Donald Trump stated that the U.S. was ready to make a "real deal" with Iran.

Also on Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo compared the Iranian government to the "mafia".

"The Trump doctrine when it comes to Iran was the Reagan doctrine when it came to the Soviets", Graham, R-S.C., said on Fox News on Monday night.

Iran hit back on Tuesday morning after an angry warning from President Trump. Mr.

"This is a moment in history".

Trump earlier this year pulled the United States out of the worldwide deal meant to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon and ordered increased American sanctions.

President Donald Trump threatened Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani with "consequences the likes of which few have ever suffered before" in an explosive all-caps Twitter posting late on Sunday. His message was mostly about supporting Iranians inside the country who have been protesting.

"Their message is that the place is on the verge of overthrowing the Islamic Republic, which has been a claim for the last 40 years and that they, in particular, are the logical democratic, pluralistic replacement".

"We've been around for millennia & seen fall of empires, [including] our own, which lasted more than the life of some countries".

The price of gold soared more than 30 percent over a single day recently because of all the Iranians rushing to buying the yellow metal, commonly viewed as a good way to preserve wealth in volatile times. "Now, if you believe that, I have some Florida real estate I could sell you", he said. Iran has insisted it will not renegotiate the deal.

Democrats have expressed alarm about Trump's Iran bluster.

The analyst added that "neither Iran, nor any other country is interested in escalating tensions in the region".

"Sadly, after pulling us out of the nuclear deal with Europe and Iran, there doesn't seem to be strategy for how to move forward to fight Iran's activities", she said.

But Ghaemi, speaking via Skype, said the Trump administration's other policies hurt average Iranians.

He said, his administration stands ready for Iran to come back to the negotiating table, adding that the United States is ready to make a deal, not like the one done by the previous Obama administration.

"Drive them out of Syria, don't cut a deal with Russian Federation to give them Syria". Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in particular feel empowered by the Trump administration's overt hostility toward Iran.
