Chelsea lead the chase for Zaha

Zaha wants to remain in London and sees Chelsea as the ideal club to continue his resurgence.

A host of clubs are believed to be interested in Zaha, but with his big-money move to Manchester United having fallen flat earlier in his career, he is thought to be reluctant to move up North once again.

The Eagles are not keen to lose their talisman forward this summer and have already offered him a new £125 000 a week deal in a bid to keep him at Selhurst Park, which he has turned down.

Tottenham were interested in signing Zaha this window, but have chose to pursue Aston Villa's Jack Grealish instead.

Maurizio Sarri is due to sit down with Chelsea chiefs to discuss potential signings ahead of this week's transfer deadline and the Crystal Palace star will be top of the agenda. Zaha is thus, a viable target, who will bolster the Blues' attack irrespective of the Brazilian's departure.

The Blues, who finished fifth in the top-flight last term, have signed only Jorginho and Rob Green this summer but have expressed interest in Palace's Zaha.

According to the Sun, Chelsea were front-runners for Zaha as they would probably need a replacement for either Willian or Eden Hazard if the iconic duo leaves Stamford Bridge this season.

But, Chelsea are hopeful of finally landing the 25-year-old with an improved offer worth £45 million, plus £15 million in add-ons and a massive sell-on fee.

Chelsea appear to be winning the race for Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha. An interesting next few days beckon.
