Besiktas leak Loris Karius Liverpool departure on Twitter

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has questioned the club's decision to allow Loris Karius to leave Anfield ahead of him, with both players desperate for game time.

"The transfer for Karius does not change anything for me", he told Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

Speaking to Het Laatste Nieuws of his native land, the goalkeeper said: "I find it weird that Karius is [on loan], while I also had options to be [loaned]".

Karius had taken the number one shirt last season away from Simon Mignolet. But for some reason that wasn't possible.

The Reds have confirmed that goalkeeper Loris Karius has joined Turkish giants Besiktas on a two-year loan deal. 'I have always been clear: I want to play.

"I really think Loris is a fantastic goalkeeper and is a very good goalkeeper age". Playing minutes is the most important. So I do not know what my future at Liverpool is.

"A goalkeeper who got the nod over me previous year may leave on loan. Nothing decided. If it happens then we will speak about it".

It actually came as a surprise that now, given Karius' move to Turkey, the practically exiled Mignolet will become Alisson's deputy.

"We will wait over the next few days to see if they will present an offer".

However, it is highly unlikely Liverpool will let him join a European club before the transfer window closes this week, condemning him to spending the next four months largely in the shadows.
