Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho admits he is unsure what his best back four is after a tough start to the Premier League season.

There isn't much time for Mourinho to find the right solutions - United are already six points behind the Premier League's top four Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Watford who all have 100 per cent records.

"At the final whistle as well, the way they were clapping the team was I think really respectful and really nice for us as players to receive after a disappointing result".

"I accept these are different times and I accept the difficulties and challenges, but my honest view as I stand here now is that Ed Woodward gave him a contract last season".

United were crushed at Old Trafford. Three Premierships I have won, more Premierships than the other 19 managers put together.

And Coyle, who was speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, says the absence of Faria could have made a big negative impact.

"After two losses, we've got to start winning and win in a good way".

Hugo Lloris kept his place in the Spurs goal and retained the captain's armband despite being arrested for drink driving in the early hours of Friday. He is going to have to back certain players and just stick with it because at the moment they are changing every game.

Harry Kane grabbed his first goal at the Theatre of Dreams in five appearances with a superb header from Kieran Trippier's corner, before Lucas Moura finished a slick counter attack to silence the home supporters yet again.

"To the fans who came out, we're sorry".

Mourinho was goaded with chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" by the travelling Tottenham fans. After beating Leicester in its opener, United lost to Brighton 3-2 and now has three points after three rounds. Since moving on to United, though, the manager has struggled given the talent. They saw good things in the first half of Monday's game, when Man U kept Spurs off the board in a scoreless draw.

"A team that fights like that, with that solidarity, is united and there is no unity without the manager", he explained.

Mourinho's position and mindset are being called into question, along with that of star turns such as Paul Pogba, and United need to offer a positive response when they return to action on Monday.
