The vintage two-door, three-speed LaSalle made by Cadillac is the same vehicle used to carry the Rev. C.L. Franklin, father of the Queen of Soul, in 1984; David Ruffin, baritone for the Temptations, in 1991; and Rosa Parks, civil rights icon, in 2005.

Franklin will be buried in 24-karat gold plated Promethean casket made of solid bronze. A sea of pink Cadillac cars lined up outside the funeral. There are musical tributes planned from several artists, including Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia and Jennifer Holliday.

Aretha Franklin's funeral drew dignitaries from across the globe, with remarks from Bill Clinton and her longtime friend, Smokey Robinson.

The mayor said: "When Aretha Franklin sang, it sounded like the voice of Detroit". Yet the Queen of Soul's final send-off certainly will encompass many elements, emotions and grand entrances that were hallmarks of her more than six decades on sacred and secular stages.

The presence of Hollywood stars such as Tyler Perry and Cicely Tyson, who will also speak, are a nod to Franklin's contributions on screen and off in films such as "The Blues Brothers".

Although the service is limited to family members, friends and selected guests, you can watch it streaming online. And through her own voice, Aretha lifted those of millions, empowering and inspiring the vulnerable, the downtrodden, and everyone who may have just needed a little love'. This is a real life that has been lived, that a person regardless of how famous she became no matter how many people she touched around the world, she still could not escape death.

He added: "And hopefully, a lot of people here with money and fame and influence and friends and notoriety and wealth, hopefully they will think of their mortality and say there is something bigger than fame".

"My husband said, 'Wouldn't it be awesome if we could have a sea of pink Cadillacs parked on Seven Mile Road to greet Ms. Aretha Franklin as she arrives?'" Ellis told NPR.

Included in the choir was Dorinda Clark Cole of the Grammy-award winning Clark Sisters; Evelyn Turrentine Agee; Sandra Feva, who sang background for Franklin for many years; and recording artist and now-evangelist, Laura Lee.
