Details have emerged about Aretha Franklin's star-studded funeral, which is set for Friday.

Aretha Franklin, who died on 16 August aged 76, will be given a befitting send-off which is scheduled to last 6 hours but may very well go on for longer. "Her unrivaled singing voice helped her create timeless hits like "Respect" and "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" on her way to being rightfully crowned as the Queen of Soul.

Today, dozens of entertainers will gather to honor the life of the Queen of Soul at Chene Park Amphitheater in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

Coverage begins at 9 a.m. on Local 4 and ClickOnDetroit. "I think there will be some up hands clapping and feet dancing".

She wore a baby blue dress on Wednesday and a rose gold gown for a viewing Thursday at the Detroit church where her father was the longtime pastor.

Greater Grace Temple is calling on people with pink Cadillacs to line up before the funeral in an effort to create a "Freeway of Love" in tribute to Franklin.

Her grandchildren spoke briefly, delivering heartfelt thanks on behalf of their family.

Her invitation-only funeral is taking place at Greater Grace Temple, one of the largest and most famous churches in the city. "Death is a part of life".

'I do not plan anything (with) someone I love like that, ' Robinson, a Motown great who grew up with Franklin, said.

The Aretha Franklin Choir and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir are also on the program.

The funeral comes after a two-day public viewing at Detroit's Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. She said of the tune.

Franklin was dressed head to heel in red for her first public viewing on Tuesday, a nod to her membership in the sorority Delta Sigma Theta.
