While there were no confirmed reports of additional injuries at the time of publication, TVG confirmed that all of its personnel were safe and accounted for.

The man pulled the gun during an argument at the ticket window at Del Mar Fairgrounds and fired several shots, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

Shots were fired at Del Mar race course in California during a live televised competition - as crowds gathered for an Ice Cube concert.

Deputies returned fire, the sheriff said.

The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital, but his condition is unknown, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

The shooting took place during the 10th race.

The concert, for which tickets were sold out, was scheduled to follow a full slate of horse races at the track, the station reported.

Many concert goers left following the shooting, but Ice Cube went on as scheduled.

At least one video posted on Twitter showed a female sheriff's deputy pull her gun and fire what sounded like four rounds after a man standing near an entrance gate is seen pointing a weapon toward the sky.

As is our special events protocol, substantial law enforcement and private security was on site in anticipation of the event.

At 7:22 p.m., Del Mar Racetrack tweeted that the incident had been contained and that the concert was taking place as planned.

"We take consolation in the fact that no patrons, officers or security personnel were injured in the incident", the statement said.
