Elon Musk hits massive blunt in live interview

Tesla Inc's chief accounting officer resigned after just a month on Friday and a second senior executive was reported to be leaving as well, hours after Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk smoked marijuana on a live webcast.

Musk has repeatedly expressed concerns about the dangers of unrestrained development of artificial intelligence but says his push for a more cautious, regulated approach has been "futile".

Musk also had some whiskey during the interview.

Later on in the show, Musk declared, "I'm getting text messages from friends saying, 'What the hell are you doing smoking weed?'..."

Rogan asked Musk about The Boring Company, which Musk said started as a " joke", mostly borne out of his desperation to fix L.A.'s notoriously bad traffic problem. Last month, Musk ignited controversy by announcing on Twitter that a deal to take Tesla private was all but certain, only to abandon the plan 17 days later. One big reason is that his brain is a "a never-ending explosion" of ideas that he finds hard to turn off, per CNN. He was honest, possibly drunk and stoned: "I think people should be nicer to each other ..." Tesla and its CEO are now also facing a litany of lawsuits claiming market manipulation, including one filed Thursday by Andrew Left, the founder of Citron Research and prominent short seller.

Towards the end, Rogan lit what he described as a joint containing tobacco and cannabis - which is legal in California - and offered it to Musk. "Every now and again I get drawn in and it's not good, you can make some mistakes".

"It's like a cup of coffee in reverse", he added. I think Joe might, however, be right about the stockholders.

Musk later brightened and said, "This may sound corny, but love is the answer". Mr. Musk asked before taking a hit. Musk did, and the image of the CEO smoking cannabis immediately spread on social media like wildfire.

"This is insane", Musk said. But Musk also said this isn't really a priority, and he also dismissed the concept of a flying vehicle as impractical. "If we were forever confined to Earth, that would be sad", Musk said. "This caused me to reconsider my future".
