Manchester United will be looking to kick-off their Champions League campaign with a positive result when they take on Young Boys in Switzerland tonight.

A number of United's players were seen raising their eyebrows when stepping out for training on the plastic pitch, with the added impact meaning United captain Antonio Valencia did not travel for the Group H opener.

"I am really happy to play for this club, one of best clubs in world, so for me it's really good to be part of this club".

"We found a certain balance in the team, especially in the competitive attitude, we are creating lots of chances, changing our profile of play, the way we attack opponents, and we find a way to protect ourselves in some specific situations and we manage to get six points after two defeats which is important for us".

"And I am pretty sure that the big man, sometimes is not happy to play on such a surface, but he has to play, and he has to win".

Jose Mourinho's side go into the game on the back of two Premier League victories and the spirits appeared high in the camp despite their unusual surroundings. Everyone knows he has a favourite surface, but he has to win on the surfaces he is not in love with. Fred and Nemanja Matic slot into midfield, while Paul Pogba also plays. The players trained on the pitch on Tuesday evening but there are concerns it will take them longer than usual to recover ahead of Wolves' visit to Old Trafford on Saturday.

Marcus Rashford is likely to start against Young Boys while he completes a three-game domestic ban.

The two-time Champions League victor believes football has evolved beyond the days of players being pigeon-holed in one position and Rashford's versatility is an added string to his bow.

Mourinho has described the artificial pitch in Bern as a "huge advantage" for Young Boys.

The Red Devils striker has been linked with a potential move in the next transfer window following a hard start to the season.

"Right now, learning the game off the left hand side is ideal with Romelu Lukaku as the focal point and just playing off him suits Rashford".
