Republicans are pillorying Christine Basley Ford, the woman accusing Judge Kavanaugh of sexual assault, for demanding an independent Federal Bureau of Investigation probe before sheFreaks and Giggs via Foter.com testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kavanaugh has denied Ford's allegations.

In their letter, Ford's attorneys had further stated that Ford wished the FBI to investigate her claims before he came before the committee. Republicans ostensibly control the Senate, and Ford's unsubstantiated claims are ridiculous.

Why is the Senate setting a deadline?

Orrin Hatch he wasn't even at the party where he's alleged to have assaulted her more than 30 years ago.

They are also unlikely to agree on an alternative date and the hearing could still go ahead without Mrs Ford.

Kavanaugh is a District of Columbia appeals court judge and served as an adviser to former President George W Bush.

Judge Thomas was narrowly confirmed and he remains a Supreme Court justice. The committee's chairman said Ford has until Friday to provide written testimony.

"If it's truly Senator Collins' intention to side with Brett Kavanaugh over Dr. Blasey Ford, she will never again be able to claim the mantle of an ally to women or survivors, and that is not something that women will ever forget-not next week, not next month, and not in 2020 when she's up for reelection", said Hogue. "And it is an enormous act of courage understanding the risks that would come her way, she chose to tell her story and not have others mischaracterize it". "I sincerely hope that Dr Ford will accept my invitation to do so, either privately or publicly, on Monday". John Cornyn, R-Texas, responds to reporters' questions on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, on Capitol Hill in Washington.

So...for me to hear that this son of a bitch is involved in the allegations of Kavanaugh attempting to rape a girl in high school comes as no surprise to me. He put his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream, she said, and she feared he might inadvertently kill her.

Republicans have largely stood by Mr Kavanaugh's denials.

"Doing so would not only signal that sexual assault accusations are not important". The president also called the treatment of Kavanaugh "very unfair" and said that his nominee is "such an outstanding man, it's very hard for me to imagine anything happened". "I really would want to see what she has to say", Mr Trump said Wednesday. If she shows, or makes arrangements to testify behind closed doors or to committee staffers, fine. "And, frankly, if you were going to believe anyone, you'd believe him".

"By hearing out both Dr. Ford and Judge Kavanaugh, the Committee will endeavor to discover the truth of the matter, and will be better able to make an informed judgement about Judge Kavanaugh's nomination", Grassley wrote. The two young guns made a lot of noise, but it was an older, wiser woman who with a single shot turned a hopeless situation for Democrats into a big potential political win.

Grassley stated that Kavanaugh had already sat for a transcribed interview on Monday, and that he understood he was under penalty of felony if he was not truthful.
