Xherdan Shaqiri's first Liverpool start lasted just 45 minutes, and Jurgen Klopp has revealed why he substituted the Swiss global.

The 26-year-old Egyptian star - who had a disappointing World Cup after entering it with a shoulder injury he suffered in the Champions League final - has scored just twice this term.

The crowd was electric throughout a dramatic 90 minutes which was closed out by a late victor from Roberto Firmino, securing Liverpool's sixth win from six games this season.

The Reds are coming off of their UEFA Champions League opening victory over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

Liverpool: Alisson, Robertson, van Dijk, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Henderson (C), Wijnaldum, Mane, Salah, Shaqiri and Firmino.

Liverpool have won all six games this season to make a ideal start and look a dominant force even without their talisman on top of his game.

As Klopp's side try to make it six wins from six against Southampton on Saturday, he insisted there is nothing to be concerned about and that Salah's willingness to help the team is evident for all to see.

"On the defensive side, the last two games he was outstanding, perfect", Klopp continued. "No-one remembers that, it is really no problem".

"It is a completely normal situation for an offensive player that they have times when they don't score".

"I thought we were good".

"Finishing is something you can never take for granted", he added. They look really strong.

The former Republic of Ireland global established a reputation as one of the Premier League's most prolific strikers during his time with Tottenham, but had limited success after moving to Liverpool for £19m in 2008.
