According to Washington D.C. police, they arrested 23-year-old Anthony Crawford Thursday morning in the death of Wendy Martinez, 35, who grew up in Palm Beach County. But it was too late and she died shortly after.

A suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of a female jogger in Washington, D.C., Tuesday evening, Fox Newsreports. "Thankfully, there were some folks in the carryout who really went above and beyond to try and help her until police and fire could arrive on the scene, but unfortunately they couldn't do enough to save her life". Newsham said there was no robbery and no apparent confrontation before the attack, which he said happened "very quickly".

Police said Crawford is not homeless, has been uncooperative with them, and Martinez was not robbed.

Crawford was taken into custody in a Washington, D.C., park on Wednesday night following 24-hour manhunt.

Newsham said patrol officers who were familiar with the community, with the help of citizen tips, identified the person of interest pictured in the video. "Wendy lived the happiest seven days of her life".

Martinez's stab wounds were very serious, and she made her way into a nearby Chinese restaurant after the attack. "We were planning a wedding, and now we have to plan a funeral", a relative in Greenacres, Fla., where Martinez grew up, tells WPTV. "So, as soon as she had the engagement ring, she let me know", Cora Martinez said.

"The entire FiscalNote family is shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Wendy Martinez, our Chief of Staff, was killed last night", the company said in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

Martinez was the chief of staff at FiscalNote, a tech company that tracks and analyzes legislation.

Thirty-five-year-old Wendy Martinez became only the third homicide in Logan Circle in the last five years, according to crime data compiled by the Metropolitan Police Department.

"I'm a runner and also love H.I.I.T workouts", she writes.

A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction in the case. "And a woman jogging on our streets is a normal activity". The family added that Martinez had gotten engaged last week, and described her as "an avid runner ... a devout Christian, a wonderful friend, and a driven professional".

Ms Martinez had just got engaged to her partner Daniel Hincapie a week before the attack.
