Manchester United crashed out of the League Cup with a defeat on penalties to Championship side Derby County on Tuesday after the third-round tie ended 2-2 in normal time at Old Trafford.

Mourinho publicly denied a fresh rift with Pogba after stripping the player of the vice-captaincy but speculation is still rife that Pogba will soon be on his way out of Old Trafford. Then there were a few more mistakes and not a lot of movement in front because we didn't really put them in trouble.

"The only truth is that I made the decision of Pogba not to be the second-captain anymore", stated Mourinho.

"Everyone at the club is working tirelessly to add to Manchester United's 66 and Jose's 25 trophies", Woodward said.

Today a video has emerged from Manchester United's Carrington training base which appeared to show Jose Mourinho and Pogba disagreeing.

They could both be heading for the exit the way this is going, but Mourinho's position is more urgent.

The visitors made the man advantage count when Jack Mariott headed home five minutes from time, but Marouane Fellaini looked to have saved Mourinho's blushes with a towering header deep into stoppage time.

Before the first Derby County penalty was taken, the United manager spoke to Lampard.

Two of which came at Chelsea, once again to Bayern in the Champions League (4-5) and also to Stoke in the (League Cup, 4-5), followed by Tuesday's 8-7 loss to Lampard, his former Chelsea player.

If it was, he would be off sulking and would not have been watching last night's game at Old Trafford.

Things got more hard for United when Romero was dismissed for handball outside his area and Derby capitalised through Jack Marriott, but Fellaini forced a shootout with a last-gasp equaliser.

Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus was one of several big names in their lineup and scored after 36 minutes with a header before Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden wrapped up proceedings late on.

The only other Premier League side beaten by lower-league opposition on Wednesday was Burnley which lost 2-1 to third-tier side Burton.

Substitute Harvey Elliott became the youngest-ever player to feature for Fulham at 15 years and 174 days after coming off the bench in the 3-1 win at Millwall.
