Atletico Madrid Argentine coach Diego Simeone on Friday said Juventus' Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo should not have been sent off the pitch during his football team's UEFA Champions League clash against Spanish side Valencia.

The 33-year-old Portugal worldwide was given a matching order in the 29 minutes of the encounter in the 2-0 Group H opener win over Valencia on Wednesday at night at Mestalla Stadium having clashed with defender Jeison Murillo off the ball.

Ronaldo was shown a straight red card and handed three-match ban for an apparent headbutt on Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes.

An increase would also rule him out of a return to Old Trafford to face former club Manchester United. Messi scored two more goals within a span of 10 minutes to get his 48th career hat-trick. I'm positive that we have now turn into stronger, not exclusively due to Ronaldo.

Ronaldo has played against Manchester United only twice since leaving for Real Madrid in 2009.

Matuidi admits Juve's players were baffled by the decision.

Cristiano Ronaldo's dismissal for Juventus against Valencia was "absurd", says Marcello Lippi, with the Portuguese falling victim to "a hallucination" from the match officials. Juventus won that match against Valencia by 2-0. "The penalty just before half-time was a real blow, we then had to try and pull ourselves together".

"The game is rising each year and more people are coming to watch, so it's a little bit sad that we still have to deal with those comments".

The manner of City's Premier League title win last season has persuaded many that Guardiola can add to his two Champions League crowns with Barcelona.

"Or (Gareth) Bale that since he arrived at Real Madrid he's been in the shadow or the shade of Cristiano Ronaldo".

"Obviously when you win you are happier, mentally we are stronger we get better, we change the team but even the players who come in feel already like they are in the team, and that's all we need", Pogba told Sky Sports.

Commenting on the upcoming matches of Ronaldo in the champions league Allegri said, "He will have a great performance as he did in the first 30 minutes in the Champions League".
