Nurmagomedov had already left the Park Theatre in Las Vegas before McGregor arrived around half an hour late for the pair's final media availability ahead of Sunday's lightweight championship fight.

Earlier, Nurmagomedov had sat on the podium for 10 minutes waiting for McGregor to arrive before walking out.

In addition to McGregor vs Khabib, the UFC 229 co-main event will also feature former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson (-360) against Anthony Pettis, who is listed as a +270 underdog.

McGregor's Irish fans chanted throughout as Khabib struggled to contain his emotions. For one thing, every McGregor fight feels like an event, between his fervent fanbase and press conference that are equal parts the ramblings of a madman and a Nardwuar-worthy level of insight into his opponents.

Broadcast restrictions mean that fans in the United Kingdom who have subscribed to UFC Fight Pass will not be able to watch the bout live, only BT Sport subscribers will be able to see the live action.

"I have to be careful with him", Nurmagomedov said. He expressed his preference for face-offs to take place after the weigh-ins, saying that is "the one I'm interested in".

"15 minutes I'm here, this guy didn't come, this is disrespect. have a good night", he said.

"To be honest, I don't want [McGregor] to go to jail. I'm going to take his head off", he said to the crowd, throwing in a few more choice words for the record.

"All the time, he gets exhausted, he gives up", Nurmagomedov said. We're all facing - I'm sure all the Irish people here - are facing all this immigration stuff on the way over (to America). and then you've got this man with such a insane background. and he's walking around free. It's a credit to McGregor's status as an all-time great that even against a dominant champion I'd give him a 40 percent or so shot of scoring a first-round knockout here.

He said: "For me this is more than defending my title". He doesn't want to be around these people.

"Saturday night: You're in for a show, trust me on that", he told the crowd.

Asked whether he would look to make peace with Nurmagomedov and bury their grudge after the might, McGregor drew the biggest response of the day. "F*** peace, there will never be peace", McGregor said.

"I have to make weight", he said, leaving the stage with his belt aloft and to the booing of McGregor's supporters. "But if you can't aim for peace, aim between the eyes", he bellowed. "Never, ever, ever, over".

McGregor has made a habit of arriving late to scheduled events during his UFC career and continued it at by turning up on his own time to a press conference in NY last month.
