In a hilarious video released by the Saints, Manning is seen making a salad when he's informed that Brees broke his mark of 71,940 passing yards.

Brees passed Peyton Manning to become the NFL's all-time leader in yards passing with a 62-yard touchdown to rookie Tre'Quan Smith on Monday night that sent New Orleans on its way to a lopsided 43-19 victory over the mistake-prone Washington Redskins.

Drew Brees #9 of the New Orleans Saints looks to pass against the Minnesota Vikings during the first half of the NFC Divisional Playoff game at U.S. Bank Stadium on January 14, 2018 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brees's next move was to the sideline, where his wife, children and Saints Coach Sean Payton awaited emotional embraces.

The future Hall of Famer remarks that he still has the all-time touchdown record, then is informed Brees is on pace to break that record as well. Former Saints receiver Devery Henderson, who caught the pass on which Brees broke Unitas' mark, attended Monday night's game. However, he had pre-recorded a congratulatory message played on the Superdome's video boards.

It was a good-natured video from Manning, and he wrapped it up with serious congratulations.

"This is one of the great stories in National Football League history - a guy who was told was told every reason why he would never be the guy", Joe Tessitore, the "MNF" announcer, said before the game (via the Advocate). As Teddy Bridgwater ran onto the field and Brees trotted to the sideline, Brees got one last ovation before fans began chanting: "Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints".

"Obviously, and I know Drew feels the same way, you never play for individual records of any sorts", Manning said in June (via the New Orleans Times-Picayune). Thanks to you, that's over now, and you've ruined that for me.

Of the passing-yardage record, Manning said at the time, "He deserves it".

It also took Brees fewer games than Manning to pass for 71,740 yards - Brees achieved the feat in 253 games compared to Manning's 266.
