"I support the women", the first lady told Llamas, "and they need to be heard".

Melania Trump has doubts about some of the people who rub elbows with her husband in the West Wing.

"We have great people right now working", Trump said in a 45-minute phone interview with "Fox and Friends" Thursday.

Llamas said that some people might take the first lady's statement to mean that she doesn't actually support women.

Melania has repeatedly expressed disappointment that people talk more about what she wears than what she does.

"I believe that my husband is doing a incredible job for this nation and I want the American people to have success", the first lady said.

Mrs Trump last week undertook her first solo trip overseas as USA first lady, travelling to Ghana, Malawi, Kenya, and Egypt. She said the personal connection is one reason that led her to focus on educating children on best practices for social media and online behavior. She clarified, "One of them". The president frequently attacks people on Twitter.

"We need to have a really hard evidence that if you're accused of something, show the evidence".

"I can say, I'm the most bullied person in the world", she said.

Her announcement of the anti-bullying initiative and these most recent remarks made no mention however of her husband, who in just the past week very publicly declared that an alleged victim of sexual misconduct was a liar. "They don't have any facts", she had said.

While McCain added that she doesn't like sitting at the table, "being nasty to our first lady for the sake of it", she thought this was an important time to call her out.

The ABC News special, "Being Melania", airs Friday at 10 p.m. ET.
