$Half-Billion Mega Millions Jackpot Awaits Friday Drawing

No winning lottery ticket was sold for the Mega Millions drawing Friday night, meaning the massive jackpot now soars to $654 million.

The last Powerball victor matched the numbers on August 11.

The $548 million prize in Friday's drawing refers to the annuity option, which is awarded in 30 payouts. The chance of matching all six numbers and winning the jackpot is one in 302.5 million.

Teja said games with large prizes generate large interest throughout the country, though MA ranks first in per-capita spending on the lottery.


An in-state Megabucks Doubler drawing will also take place tomorrow for an estimated $3.3 million in winnings. The drawing is at 10:59 p.m. Friday night and you can buy tickets up until 10:45 p.m.at retailers or online. It is also one of the top ten largest jackpots in USA history. The payout was $309.2 million as the cash option.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot topped out at $656 million in 2012, followed by $648 million a year later.

The prize money increased by $78 million when no one won Tuesday's drawing. That jackpot has reached an estimated $314 million.
