Microsoft's latest October 2018 update for the Xbox One is headlined by the return of Xbox Avatars with a new look and style. The biggest feature of the update is the redesigned avatars that players have been waiting quite a while for - new avatars were originally debuted at E3 2017. Naturally, the revamped Xbox Avatars offer deeper levels of customisation and continues the trend of decking out your digital dude with game-specific clothing and items.

"Avatars will appear across your Xbox One". The new Avatars can be seen on your profile, the pages of others, on activity feed posts, leaderboards, club headers, friend blocks, and more.

This October firmware update should be a good upgrade for the 4K and HDR TV owners since it adds support for Dolby Vision streaming, which is the superior HDR format to view on a TV that supports it. This new Avatar feature has already been available to members of the Xbox Insider Program for some time, having been in beta-testing since June.

You find the Xbox Skill in the Alexa Skill Store. "To set up Alexa, just say, "Alexa, open Xbox" and to set up Cortana, just say, "Hey Cortana, open Xbox", or search for "Xbox" in the assistant skill store".

The new update also includes the recently announced Dolby Vision support. The new avatars include all body types, moods, items from games, and more. As of 6:30 am ET, the free Echo Dot 3 deal with Xbox console purchases is not live yet. However, other apps will soon support the same update. However, It's limited to the Netflix app for now but the company promises more Dolby Vision apps will be supported in the coming months. There is also an added Australian version of the English language alongside the U.S. and U.K options. This is officially labeled as the October firmware update.

Finally, five new languages have been added to Narrator on Xbox One: Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, and Dutch.
