'Orange Is the New Black' Is Calling It a Day

Netflix's popular prison dramedy will air its final episode in 2019, the streaming platform announced on Wednesday. Most recently, Nielsen reported that the first episode of Season 6 drew an average-minute audience of 5.4 million USA viewers in the initial three days of availability.

"The final season is coming", said Schilling.

Orange is the New Black will be locking the gates of Litchfield prison for good next year. This will mark an end to one of Netflix's most-watched original series.

Orange Is the New Black will end after its upcoming seventh season. Rolling Stone's Alan Sepinwall said while season five was action-packed, it was a "chore" to get through.

Uzo Aduba who plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren said: "Season seven, you will not be disappointed".

While some of the show's seasons have proven more divisive than others, "Orange is the New Black" has been on the receiving end of consistent critical praise over the years, most of which usually focuses on highlighting the strong performances of its cast. It is a season you will not forget and we're going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted'.

The cast of "Orange is the New Black", including a pregnant Laura Prepon, celebrate the show's fifth season with a premiere party in NY.

So far, there is no firm premiere date for the show's seventh season.

"I'm going to miss the hell out of this TV show", Natasha Lyonne, who played Nicky Nichols, added. It's also garnered a number of accolades, including four Emmys Awards and 16 total nominations.
