Real Madrid crisis continues after 2-1 loss to Levante

Lopetegui stands on the precipice of losing two of the world's highest profile jobs in the space of just over four months with his Real side struggling.

Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui has proven to be an absolute waste since arriving in the Spanish capital and will certainly get the sack- but the question is when is it going to come?

Marcelo pulled one back with 18 minutes left and substitute Karim Benzema then hit the post with a 20-yard shot, but there was to be no late equaliser and Madrid are five games without a win for the first time in 10 seasons.

After making a bold team selection that included naming Bale, Toni Kroos and Benzema on the bench, another awful result here, coupled with an historically bad goalscoring streak, has him on the brink of the sack.

"That is the last thing I am thinking about", he said.

"They caught us with a goal when we were doing well". But we attacked a lot, and attacked very well. "We have to change our dynamic and start winning games". Roger Marti doubled the lead in the 13th minute from the penalty spot, after a handball by Varane.

Lopetegui is himself frustrated with the White as well after lack of transfer activities during the summer and most importantly the failure to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. The ball didn't want to go in.

Madrid struck the woodwork three times and had a goal by Diaz disallowed for offside in the final minutes.

Lopetegui was already under huge scrutiny after defeats to Sevilla, CSKA Moscow and Deportivo Alaves, along with a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid in the last four games.

A Champions League visit of Viktoria Plzen is up next for the club before they head to Barcelona next Sunday for the first El Clasico of the season.
