Why Chelsea should sack assistant coach Marco Ianni for "disgraceful" celebrations in front of Jose Mourinho, says former Manchester United defender Phil Neville.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho looks at his watch, during a training session at the Aon Training Complex, in Manchester, England, Monday, Oct. 22, 2018.

Despite Ianni's actions, Mourinho said after the game he had accepted Chelsea's apology.

While not advocating for such a harsh punishment, British football pundits largely backed Mourinho, with former United midfielder Paul Ince saying he would react the same way as the Portuguese. "If I speak to a member of staff and am very hard [with him], I can not come here and tell everything, because then I am not credible with the staff".

Speaking to the Times, Barkley explained his decision: "I got them at a young age and sometimes when you are young you do stupid things and not think about it".

"If I speak to a member of staff and am very hard [with him] I can not come here and tell everything because then I am not credible with the staff".

"I immediately said if you really feel that way, and you want to apologise, of course I accept apologies, and to forget it because I made lots of mistakes in my career. I also did mistakes, especially when I was your age'".

The issue overshadowed a pulsating 2-2 draw, in which United hit back from Antonio Rudiger's first-half goal thanks to Anthony Martial's brace after the interval, only for Barkley to seal a share of the points late on.

May admits that potentially the forward could become one of the best in the world and says he is at the right club in Manchester United to develop further.

"After that his assistant come to me in Sarri's office and apologised to me". "Normally when I am losing I never get six minutes. This is the Premier League against fantastic teams, so we have to keep going and try to work hard". I want to play with short passes.

"I will speak to him again (on Sunday)".

"We played our football for 60 minutes and suddenly stopped with our football and played another football, with long balls".
