Police say the actor was taken into custody Friday afternoon just before 2 p.m.in Manhattan's West Village neighborhood.

According toTMZ, Alec was arrested in NY this morning when a man swooped into a spot he was planning to park at near 10th Street and 5th Avenue. The man's identity has not been released, but the spokeswoman said that he was a white man and was 49 years old. The actor allegedly punched the other man in response.

The "30 Rock" sitcom actor, 60, "assaulted someone for a parking spot that they were both going for", NY police department detective Sophia Mason said.

Baldwin was arrested in 1995 for allegedly slugging a paparazzi photographer in Los Angeles, one of several such run-ins.

It happened on East 10th Street near University Place, according to the NYPD. He also got into her face and yelled, "Get the F. out of here" before unsuccessfully trying to get NYPD officers at the scene to arrest her. This unnamed motorist, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, "swooped in" on a spot that Alec was "apparently planning to take for himself".

After learning about Baldwin's arrest Friday, Trump reportedly told journalists, "I wish him luck".

The actor is known for his hot temper, but has mellowed over the last few years as he assumed the role of President Donald Trump on "Saturday Night Live".

This is a breaking story.
