LeBron James' LA Lakers lose 108-104 to Orlando Magic

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is not bothered by his decision to pass up a potential game-tying shot on Sunday.

And arguably their most promising young player, Ingram, admits the Lakers are guilty of watching LeBron and expecting him to do big things for the 16-time National Basketball Association champions late in games instead of moving around him.

Although the Lakers have shown signs of being a dynamic offensive team around James, there wasn't a sign to be seen against the undermanned Jazz, other than Ingram's uncommonly aggressive performance.

Brandon Ingram topscored with 24 and grabbed 6 rebounds to pace the Lakers, who committed 24 turnovers and dished out just 10 assists. We did a number on them in the half court defensively.

"We have to be able to defend better to win", Utah coach Quin Snyder told reporters following a 119-110 loss to the visiting Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. "Tonight we did that".

Neither team took a commanding lead in the second half until James hit a layup and a 3-pointer on consecutive possessions with 3:15 to play.

The Los Angeles Lakers have struggled to score in close games so far this season.

"It's tough for teams to guard us on pick-and-rolls because (Vucevic) can shoot so well", Augustin said after beating the Lakers. "Right now, we've made strides in a lot of areas. But we'll have to continue to clean that up as we move on".

The Jazz said Mitchell's status will be updated Saturday.

"He's our leading scorer, so it impacts the game", Utah coach Quin Snyder said. "But I don't think our guys - it's not a crutch or an excuse. I liked the fact that we kept competing".

Neither team did much to distinguish itself early on the first game back from Thanksgiving.

The Lakers surged to a 12-point lead early in the game behind 13 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds from Kyle Kuzma in the first quarter alone.

Despite the fact that Ball was not particularly efficient from the field (4-for-10) in the win, LeBron reiterated that the Lakers benefited from Lonzo pushing the pace and attacking the defense as that only makes Los Angeles more hard to contain on the offensive end.

James returned to Cleveland on Wednesday night, where he grew up and had two successful stints with the Cavaliers, and led the Lakers back from an eight-point deficit with just under five minutes to play.
