With six gold medals and a silver, the diminutive Mary Kom now stands as the tallest woman boxer in the 17-year-old history of the event and equals legendary male boxer Cuban Felix Savon's World championships record.

The atmosphere at the KD Jadhav Hall was electrifying and so was seasoned M.C Mary Kom's performance in the final of the Aiba Women's World Boxing Championship here on Saturday. Hanna is 22 years old, while Mary Com is 35 years old. Okhota countered with left but was not enough to stop the five-time world champion. And on October 1, of the same year, the sportswoman won her first Gold Medal at the Asian Games held in South Korea. "Though we won eight medals, four gold included but competition is much tough nowadays and considering the fact, our results here (one gold, a silver and two bronze medals) were great", said Mary.

Taking on Hannah Okata of Ukraine in the final on Sunday, Mary Kom out-boxed and out-jabbed her opponent as she was declared the victor of the final after three rounds by a unanimous 5-0 decision from the judges. Richly experienced Mary Kom recently won Gold Medal in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. "But I am still dreaming about winning the gold in 2020 Olympics".

To get the fact right, let's have a look at the wonder- woman's plethora of achievements after the biopic, Mary Kom, was made.

Overwhelmed, Mary Kom broke down after coming out of the ring as she went around to greet the packed stadium and the assembled officials.

"I want to thank the fans who turned up today to cheer me and the Indian contingent", Kom said. The tiny Kom community, to which Mary Kom belongs, is one of six ethnic sub-tribe groups under the conglomerate of the Komrem Union. She is also the only Indian female boxer to win a medal at the Olympics (bronze in London 2012).

In a hard-fought duel between two southpaws, Mary showcased her lovely assortment of right jabs and well-rehearsed combinations to seize initiative. Suffice to say, there is no question that she will be a role model for all time to come. She first won a senior level medal in 2016.
