Liverpool's Robertson frustrated by Neymar 'playacting'

Liverpool's immediate Champions League future has come down to an all-or-nothing decider at home to Napoli next month following a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Paris St Germain in France.

"It was clever of PSG, especially Neymar, but a lot of other players went down like it was really something serious and we were not that calm any more".

Group C leaders Napoli, who travel to Liverpool on Dec 11, are three points clear of the Premier League side, but a 1-0 win, or a victory by a two-goal margin or more, will see Klopp's men reach the last 16 of the Champions League once more.

Then I saw the Verratti foul and wow.

Liverpool have the opportunity to bounce back from their defeat to PSG when they take on rivals Everton in Merseyside derby on Sunday, live on Sky Sports. I know it is really hard to stay calm in that situation and even Joe Gomez got a yellow card.

"I think it'll be a 50-50 now". "We never got 100 percent our game, but it was enough our game to get a result tonight".

PSG survived that let-off and went on to double their lead thanks to a clearly wound up Neymar.

Liverpool however were handed a lifeline on the stroke of half-time in the shape of a penalty, as Di Maria hauled down Sadio Mane inside the area with a rash challenge, giving James Milner the chance to convert from the spot and half the deficit heading into the interval.

Meanwhile, PSG head to Belgrade for their last game still needing to win to be certain of advancing to the knockout phase for a seventh straight season, but at least they have their fate in their hands. I do not say Paris did not deserve (to win).

In September Liverpool had swamped their opponents in the middle of the pitch but it was a completely different story in the French capital with PSG holding all the cards. But it still feels a bit rubbish and now we have to use Anfield one more time.

PSG had been desperate to get Neymar and Kylian Mbappe back fit for this game after both had picked up injuries on global duty last week.

"We must go to Anfield with courage and play our game", he said.

"That is not the kind of play you would associate with Liverpool but it is a change Klopp made in pre-season and he has carried it through the start of this campaign".

Liverpool's ground, Anfield, has been synonymous with big European nights and enthralling atmospheres, however the Napoli boss Carlo Ancellotti tends to disagree.
