"The players come in happier, but now we have to forget about the last game and think about Chelsea - another hard game for us".

Fulham boss Ranieri heaped praise on Chelsea counterpart Sarri, insisting his Italian compatriot merits high regard for his "Sarriball" tactical style. "Two strikers scored and that is very important".

The arrival of Jorginho as Maurizio Sarri's midfield fulcrum has limited Fabregas' Premier League opportunities to just three substitute appearances so far this season.

Fabregas is not denouncing his overall football ability though and despite now being at the age (31) where more attacking players begin to drop deeper, the Spaniard believes he still belongs in the final third. "I'm very happy with this".

Claudio Ranieri says his Fulham side are ready for the daunting task of playing one of his former clubs Chelsea on Sunday, an occasion he says will be "special" for him personally. When I watched him, he was a little more, as well as now, a midfielder who would go forward. "He is able to play well in this and I want to see him when we have to play more in the defensive phase".

Sarri made 10 changes to his side on Thursday night so the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, David Luiz, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N'Golo Kante, Alvaro Morata and Willian are set to be recalled. He scored a lot of goals there, and I want the same again.

Asked about visiting Chelsea's Cobham training ground, Ranieri added: "Yes I have been there, he was very, very kind with me".

It was at Chelsea where Ranieri had held his first coaching job in England and he expressed his delight at the chance of returning to Stamford Bridge, where he occupied the dugout from 2000-2004.

"This was really very good, especially because before the match we knew we were in the first position of our group after the result of BATE Borisov".
