The Green Bay Packers fired Head Coach Mike McCarthy after the loss Sunday, Dec. 2 at Lambeau Field to the 2-9 Arizona Cardinals - and is reporting McCarthy could possibly be headed to the Cleveland Browns.

And while Sunday's game won't fit in the all-time highlight film alongside the Cards' two recent playoff wins over the Packers, it was handsome on a dreary day during what had been a dreary season.

McCarthy was officially canned after Green Bay dropped yet another game to fall to 4-7-1 on the season. "As a result, I made the hard decision to relieve Mike McCarthy of his role as head coach, effective immediately", Murphy said.

Mike McCarthy's long tenure as the Green Bay Packers' head coach has now come to an end.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, who has gone up against McCarthy 10 times, didn't agree with Green Bay's decision.

After almost 13 seasons with the team, the Packers have parted ways with Mike McCarthy.

All signs were pointing toward McCarthy being fired at some point in the coming weeks - given that the team recently cleaned house, firing both coordinators and demoting former general manager Ted Thompson last season. "We all take part in the disappointments and the failures that we've had this season". They were out of the playoffs in 2017, but that was due to an injury to quarterback Aaron Rodgers. "Mike McCarthy is a good football coach".

Green Bay will host the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday for a noon kickoff, Arizona will return home for a visit from another NFC North foe in the Detroit Lions.

This year, Rodgers hurt his left knee in the season opener, though he is feeling better now.

Rodgers said his focus was getting his teammates to "play with that pride" and focus on the next four games. "We're not executing the right way", Rodgers said.

"I think it's a sad deal", Zimmer said.

"Yeah, a lot probably".
