Canelo-GGG trilogy? We can make it happen - Alvarez

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez became a three-weight world champion by outclassing and outmuscling Rocky Fielding via a third-round knockout.

Another mocked Fielding for dropping to one knee multiple times during the fight.

The 28-year-old wasted no time in making his mark and when Fielding fell to his knees following a left to the body in the first there only looked like being one victor.

Alvarez sent Fielding to the canvas in the very first round with a crunching body shot and remained in complete control.

"I don't know David Lemieux personally but I can tell you this - he said in interviews that he only took one week off after the Spike O'Sullivan fight [that he won by first-round knockout in September]", Johnson told ESPN.

On his body attack strategy towards Rocky: "That was the plan in the gym, to hit the body and then move up, and that's the result. I am happy for this victory here at Madison Square Garden and just happy to win this title", Canelo said after the fight.

The 28-year-old also revealed after the bout that he is undecided as to what step he will take next, admitting he would consider facing Gennady Golovkin for a third time. The referee mercifully waved off the match to crown Canelo the new WBA champion at Super Middleweight. In total, Alvarez landed 35 body shots on a wounded Brit. "But I'm in line to fight for the WBO Title, so I really hope that happens next". He's the best I've fought'. "My goal is to make good fights for the people, for the public, and to make sure the name of Canelo Alvarez and of Mexico is held up high". "I'm just amazed at how he continues to get better every time in there".

Despite standing taller at 6-foot-1 and enjoying a three-inch reach advantage, Fielding (27-2-0) entered the night as a clear underdog.

Rocky Fielding congratulated Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on his devastating third-round TKO but the Englishman insisted he "lived a dream" at Madison Square Garden. Opponent Mauricio Herrera (24-7, 7 KOs), 38, of Riverside, California, was 146 pounds.

"I stood there too long".

Katie Taylor (12-0, 5 KOs) of Bray, Ireland defeated Eva Wahldtrom (22-1-1, 3 KOs) of Helsinki, Finland via unanimous decision, defending her IBF & WBA Lightweight World titles in a 10-round fight. "We have to take a look at all the 160 and 168 pound fighters". Despite his insistence on fighting at 160 in 2019, a jump back up to super middleweight is not out of the question at the end of next year.
