Christmas celebrated with pledge to promote brotherhood

Governor Umahi in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Uzor described this year's Christmas as a moment for Christians to exude peace as the country gears towards the 2019 general election.

Iraqi Christians celebrated mass, led by Father Basilius, at the St. George Chaldean Church in Baghdad on Christmas Day. From the 5century, are three Masses are celebrated on the feast of Christmas: Midnight Mass, Matins or Shepherd Mass (on dawn) and the third is the Christmas Mass during the day.

"You need to have Jesus Christ before obtaining prosperity".

He prayed for journey mercies for as many Nigerians that would have to travel during the period and urged the police and other security agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and ensure that the lives and property of Nigerians are fully secured at all times.

The president urged Kenyans to love one another and spread the Christmas spirit by sharing with the less fortunate.

According to the study, 90 percent of the US population still celebrates Christmas as a holiday, and a slight majority (51%) say they plan to attend religious services on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.


The Resident Pastor noted that it was impossible to take out the name Jesus Christ from the Bible adding; "If Jesus was taken out of the Bible, it would only remain a book".

He also appreciated the role of various institutions in the fields of education, health and public welfare being managed by the Christian community across the country.

"Happy Christmas to our Christian citizens, all Iraqis and to all who are celebrating around the world", the Iraqi government tweeted on Christmas Eve.

Special mass services were held at various churches in the Borno capital. Attending the mass at church, having a meal with extended family and other loved ones.

He said that Christmas offered Christians an opportunity to reciprocate Jesus' incredible act of love, by dedicating themselves to things that promote good virtues, peace, harmony and progress.
