Barcelona ace Lionel Messi has opened up about his relationship with football, his decade-long rivalry with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and THAT Ballon d'Or snub in an interview with Spanish publication Marca. "Like me, accept the challenge".

And, while Messi said he believes a reunion for the pair in Spain is unlikely, he would be delighted should it happen.

'For me, life is a challenge, I like it and I like to make people happy.

Messi, who spoke to Marca, highlighted the level of both.

With Ronaldo having left for Juventus at the end of the previous campaign, Los Blancos have struggled for the most part so far this season, and have already undergone a change of manager. We are going to help him focus on football.

"I'm at the best team in the world". "I am playing for the best team in the world". My challenges renew year on year.

Despite having consistently been nominated for the Ballon d'Or top three for over a decade, the five-time victor was surprisingly ranked fifth in the standings with victor Luka Modric and Ronaldo taking the top two spots this time around. I don't need any change.

However, the all-time record goalscorer of the LaLiga champions offered a rather surprising response when quizzed about his podium snub this, while insisting a UEFA Champions League crown is a top priority.

Speaking about his rivalry with Real Madrid's all-time highest goal-scorer during Ronaldo's time in La Liga, Messi said it was "healthy" and "beautiful" for the spectators.

"Although it is hard, I would like to work with Guardiola again".

"It was a very healthy rivalry in which the two of us wanted to improve ourselves day in day out to do the best for our team".
