"Elizabeth Warren seems more like a chardonnay senator than a beer senator", said Tobe Berkovitz, a Boston University politics professor and longtime Democratic communications specialist. Elizabeth Warren is trying to connect with Democratic millennials and online progressive activists-her viability as a 2020 Democratic presidential contender depends on it. The senator will hold multiple events across the state this weekend. I am grateful to America down to my toes.

"This is where it begins, person-to-person, town-to-town, across Iowa and across the country", she said, igniting cheers.

She focused on the financial struggles of the middle class, which she's made a focus of her time in Washington, and emphasized minorities who are hardest hit.

She said campaigning is about being able to "listen to people, to hear from people, to talk to people about the things that matter most in their lives".

Warren's positions put her in the extremely liberal camp, but public perception places her more within the risk-averse establishment than in camp with political mavericks like socialist Sen.

Warren insisted that according to "family lore", at least one of her ancestors was a Native American.

Back in 2016, when his first campaign went viral, he started to call Senator Warren "Pocahontas". They were packed in, cages of men.

"As you came in, there was a cage of women, another cage of women packed in, cages of men", she related.

Warren then asserted that the USA needs an immigration system that can "understand the difference between the threat posed by criminals and terrorists and nine-year-old girls".

Jim Eliason, the chair of the Buena Vista County Democrats in northwestern Iowa, told U.S. News and World Report that her tone on President Donald Trump and in general was "very shrill", a term often decried as sexist against outspoken female candidates. "Every Democratic candidate for president has got to tell themselves Iowa is winnable, but we can't do it the way Clinton did it". Bernie Sanders gave her a run for her money.

Warren has also become the subject of jokes relating to her apparently fraudulent claims of being a Native American-which was the basis for her Harvard tenure and multi-million-dollar law career. More than 30 years after first publicly claiming to be a minority in the 1985-1986 American Association of Law Schools Directory and subsequently submitting and signing a form in 1989 to her then-employer, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, claiming to be a Native American, Warren has yet to provide a single piece of documentary evidence to support that claim, and her purported DNA results fall far short of any standard that would have justified that claim based on genetic evidence. "I think people are probably going to bring it up, I think they're going to talk about it", McCoy said.

"They were already attacking her before she even ran because everybody suspected she was going to run anyway", Smith said -- and if getting out early helps Warren fundraise, "power to her". That will give the MA senator a head start in a crowded field during the first fundraising period of the 2020 cycle, covering January 1 through March 31. I hope she does well.
