2019's Apple iPhone surfaces with a triple rear-facing camera setup

Check out that triple camera setup.

It's as if they took the Huawei Mate 20 Pro's camera module and then shifted some sensors around so that it looks different. The flash, cameras and mic are placed in a staggered design, which looks outright ugly (I say this now, but if it's true, I'm buying one without question #isheepgamestrong). The flash LED and a microphone hole sandwich the third vertex of the triangle.

The leaker teamed up with Indian publication Digit to share an "EXCLUSIVE: First look at 2019 Apple iPhone XI renders", reads the article.

However, we're still at least nine months away from Apple's annual iPhone reveal, so take these images with a pinch of salt.

'There are two cameras aligned vertically, similar to the iPhone XS. Above that is an LED flash and a microphone on the bottom, ' the site reported. We have no sure way of knowing which of the upcoming phones is shown in the renders, but with such a drastic change in the camera setup, it's probably the top-of-the-line model.

OnLeaks has created a couple of 5K renders of the phone based on current design details in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) stage - in other words, the final design may change between now and when the phone is announced (presumably in September 2019).

Apple is said to have three new iPhones it'll launch this year, and it's unclear which one these renders show.

The three-camera setup certainly sounds impressive, but it's quite likely to push up the cost of production, and therefore inflate the iPhone brand's price tag even further.

Adding in a new ToF (time of flight) sensor would mean that real-time room mapping would become a reality. There's no doubt the iPhone XI will support wireless charging and have aluminium core - even if it is for the premium models.
