Pep Guardiola delights in 'professional' Manchester City after Burnley demolition

"The important thing is we create more and concede fewer and in every game we try to play, play, play as much as possible".

The playmaker is contracted until the end of next season, but Guardiola would love to see the Spaniard - who has previously said he is likely to leave at the conclusion of his deal - stay at City beyond that. They maybe didn't start well, but I think they are five or six games in a row winning.

Although Guardiola maintains that the prospect of a Quadruple is "fantasy", he insists that his squad have to be positive about the extra workload. Today I wake up and suddenly we play Everton in between.

"Today in the big leagues when you drop points, you're not going to win the leagues or cups".

'When you are 35 years old you can have long, long holidays, no problem. But at the moment, it's a privilege. The competition doesn't matter. "We know they can change the whole team and still put a very competitive side out". That is the only way. "After, you work for the next season". "It's the only way I understand when you are in four competitions". "He has the quality to play every game when (getting into) this team is too hard because we have incredible players and everyone deserves to play". No rest, mentally and physically.

"They will head into next Wednesday's game against Leicester knowing nothing less than three points will do if they want to compete with City and that pressure will mount as the finishing line gets closer". Or if they play five minutes, I want the best five minutes they can play. "It depends on them and not just me".

But the Spaniard does admit he dreams of bringing the same long-term success to City as that enjoyed by some of the biggest clubs in Europe. "Of course every team is different with the setup and in our experience with Newcastle in the last two seasons against my colleague it's always tough - 0-1 there, 3-1 here - so it was tight".

City is second in the Premier League, four points behind Liverpool, and into the final of the English League Cup against Chelsea on February 24. Chapeau, hats off to my players.
