James may make his return to action against the LA Clippers on Thursday (31/01) at Staples Center.

Lakers head coach Luke Walton said James "looked good" and "doesn't look like he's hurting at all when he moves".

"We'll see how his body responds to [scrimmages]", Walton said.

The importance of this can't be understated, as there were talks that James had done some non-contact work prior, but the fact he's in the mix at practice points to a return being near.

He has missed the Lakers' last 16 games and the team have gone 6-10 in his absence.

James was selected this week to be a starter and a team captain in the NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte on February 17.

With the Lakers sitting at 25-24 now, facing the first four teams listed on that road stretch, as well as the Sixers and Clippers prior to it, could leave them in a tough spot.

The Lakers' next game after facing the Suns this weekend will be at home Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

But Buss is not concerned and while she admits they do want to get back to challenging for a place in the playoffs and National Basketball Association championships - the Lakers chief commended the front office for not taking any shortcuts by trading their assets for short-term glory.

However, according to Wojnarowski, if the Warriors do not offer him a max contract this summer, he could turn his attention toward joining the Lakers, if Davis is also on the team. "I would imagine once he feels healthy enough to go that he'll go", the Lakers coach added.

When asked about Davis' requesting a trade and his thoughts if the Lakers were to land Davis, Ingram replied, "That'll be good for the Lakers - or whatever team that gets him".

MacMullan: "Not LeBron, but all the people around LeBron, and they've made it known".
