Pakistan should be isolated as South Africa were during apartheid: Vinod Rai

"We would be shooting in the foot if we don't play Pakistan in the World Cup". Since the unfortunate Pulwama attacks, the furore is prevalent on both news channels and social media. With the demolition of apartheid and release of Nelson Mandela in the early 90s, South Africa travelled to India for a cricket tour for the first time in 21 years.

Following Ganguly's comments, former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad blasted the former, saying: "I think he (Sourav) wants to run for elections in the coming days or wants to become the chief minister as it is just a publicity stunt".

"We must sever ties with nations from which such terrorism emanates".

In the wake of the Pulwama terror attack that killed over 40 CRPF soldiers, and Pakistan-based and supported Jaush-e-Mohammed took responsibility of the suicide strike, India has been debating if they should play Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup in United Kingdom. They will lock horns against each other on June 16 at Old Trafford in Manchester. "We will take a call on that much later and in consultations with the government", COA chairman Vinod Rai has said.

Although the letter did not name any country, the reference was clearly to Pakistan from where terror groups have been launching attacks in India.

All in all, India needs to realise that they can not and should not force the issue whenever they reap the rewards of their wrongdoings in Kashmir, and more importantly they should learn to keep politics and sports apart. "As far as the other issues are concerned, I will place BCCI's letter and the concerns expressed therein, before the ICC Board". He said that security "has and always will be a top priority" for the governing body.

Tendulkar had said he would "hate" to give away two points to Pakistan by not playing in the World Cup and India should rather beat them again to maintain the unbeaten record over the arch-rivals.

"He [Tendulkar] wants two points against Pakistan, I want the World Cup".
