With Manchester United held at home by leaders Liverpool and Chelsea playing in the EFL Cup final, Arsenal were able to gain a foothold in the race for fourth, but boss Emery is refusing to look too far ahead.

"I was usually working with a sporting director", Emery said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Southampton saw their hopes of remaining in the Premier League come the end of the season take another hit on Sunday afternoon, when their side went down 2-0 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, and after the match fans vented their frustrations with one of their starters from the contest.

The timing of the opening goal, scored inside four minutes by Mesut Ozil, particularly irked Howe after he had called his side "exciting" pre-game, and he said: "They were too good for us, it was a hard night".

The Gunners manager made six changes to the team which beat BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mesut Ozil dropping to the bench.

ARSENAL moved back into the Premier League top four with a straightforward victory over struggling Southampton.

"His quality, his skill, his combinations in the attacking third are important for us".

'It was a good performance (against Bournemouth) and we can be proud of every player.

Speaking after the match, Emery admitted that his side were starting to play to his style and even singled out Arsenal's fringe players for adapting quickly during the club's busy fixture schedule. "Some players today can rest, with the derby on Saturday". We never truly recovered from the start, and it was uncharacteristic.

These are concerning times for Saints fans, and a lot of them are growing increasingly frustrated both with results, and a player who started the match against Unai Emery's men. "But tomorrow is another opportunity".
