Levee fails in Nemaha County, Nebraska along Missouri River

Louis has issued a flood warning for the Moreau River near Jefferson City.

Officials in western Iowa and eastern Nebraska were urging people not to drive unless necessary.

Douglas County Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson says "Things are moving and changing at a rapid pace", and people need to follow instructions.

The order came Friday.

The North Raccoon River is forecast to rise to flood stage Thursday evening and continue rising to 20.5 feet, or 5.5 feet above flood stage, by Saturday evening.

Major ice jams on both rivers near Columbus led to a flash flood emergency Thursday in the area.

As forecasters project big spring flooding along the MS, leaders in flood-prone Clarksville are preparing to weather the storm.

Speed River (City of Cambridge): Flood coordinators in the City of Cambridge are advised to monitor and prepare to close Blackbridge Road at the Speed River on Friday. The risk of major flooding at Clarksville in a normal year is 12 percent.

Officials in Sarpy County, south of Omaha, said Saturday that power may be shut off to communities along the Missouri, Platte and Elkhorn rivers for safety reasons.

Crews around Platte Valley were rescuing residents from King Lake when they were also stuck. The dam failure subsequently led to evacuations of several residents living along the river. That prompted the releases, which could worsen flooding downstream. Please do not assume that a highway that is clear of flooding in Missouri will be clear in Iowa, Kansas or Nebraska. If you live in a flooded area immediately seek higher ground. It will send rain and snow into Minnesota and IL on Friday.

The GRCA said much of the snow pack is expected to melt and increase runoff into local waterways.

According to the NWS, "the low-pressure system which brought blizzard conditions, heavy rainfall, and severe weather to parts of the Plains and Midwest this week has pushed well into Canada this morning".
