Brickyard 400 date shifting gears yet again

The 2020 NASCAR schedule is seeing plenty of shuffling - from a new championship race location to a Cup Series doubleheader weekend.

International Speedway Corp., the company controlled by the NASCAR-owning France family, moved the season finale to ISM Raceway outside of Phoenix.

Meanwhile, the Bristol Night Race will become a part of the 10-week title battle as the first cut-off race on September 19, joining the Charlotte Roval on October 11 and Martinsville on November 1 as cut-off races, with Darlington Raceway kicking off the playoffs on September 6, while Las Vegas becomes the first race of the second round on September 27. Daytona gave up its traditional and often rain-wrecked July 4th weekend for the final race of the regular season, when the playoff field will be completed.

Martinsville is also now getting its night race after installing lights in 2017.

Atlanta Motor Speedway's annual race, which has been the second race on the schedule since 2015, will now be held on March 15. Heck, when the Final Four was held at AT&T Stadium in 2014 and coincided with TMS' spring race, NASCAR didn't move it.

That's not the only thing changing at the Speedway.

"We are going to move to one of the most important races on the schedule, setting up the Cup Series finale", Campbell said. He would have done a doubleheader, but said he believes it should be a unique event and special to Pocono.

Racing is scheduled for the same two weekends in 2019 at MIS, with the Sunday events scheduled for June 9 and August 11.

The "Lady in Black", Darlington Raceway, will be the first race of the NASCAR Playoffs on Sunday, Sept. 6 with Las Vegas becoming the first race of the second round on Sunday, Sept. 27.

The date of the Brickyard 400 is about to change. "Now they can so we're looking forward to them joining us for our new October 25 race date".

ISC shoved a race there in March, a month few track operators want because of weather concerns that shouldn't be as big an issue in the Miami area.
