French striker Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Morelos was dismissed by referee Bobby Madden for throwing an elbow at Hoops skipper Scott Brown, his fifth red card of the season, albeit the first was rescinded.

The 33-year-old veteran star was involved in all the huge moments in the match, and was responsible for red cards issued to both Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday.

James Forrest scored a late victor as Celtic won 2-1 at home against Rangers, who had Alfredo Morelos sent off for the fifth time this season, in a pulsating Old Firm derby in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Celtic managed to produce the victor, from James Forrest's finish in the 85th minute, and is closer to an eighth successive title.

"No. Not no more", he said.

"Thanks for the support and affection you've always given me".

"I feel for Andy", he said.

"I've gone above and beyond - I've backed Alfredo more than enough and I can't defend him any more".

"I will recommend to the board that he's fined a weeks' wages and I will also recommend that that money should go to the fans".

"They galvanised a little bit when he went off but for a fan, or as manager, or a player, to have someone like that in your team let you down again and again is very disappointing".

Gerrard promised a tougher approach to discipline within his squad when asked if Morelos could change his ways. "I'm sitting here hoping and wishing and waiting".

"Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard told RangersTV after the match: "[Alfredo] will be punished internally and we'll move forward. "I will deal with that".

He said: "I feel for Andy".

Scott Sinclair nearly doubled the home side's lead in the early stages of the second half but saw his strike deflected into the side netting, and then Mikael Lustig sent a thumping strike from outside the area narrowly wide. "I would probably have done that one myself".
