Henderson has been directly involved in as many goals in tonight's game vs Southampton alone as he has in the previous two Premier League seasons combined (2).

Liverpool have played a game more than Man City, but they have now put the pressure back on the reigning champions who play before them next Sunday.

But in terms of the timing of some of the games in the run-in, it would appear City have been handed a slight edge by those scheduling the games.

Then, when Henderson himself got on the end of a flowing Liverpool move to seal the 3-1 win, his celebrations took on an iconic quality - the sort of image journalists turn to when they seek to deconstruct a title triumph.

The England worldwide was left out of Klopp's starting line-up at St Mary's but was introduced in the second half and had a major impact in securing a 3-1 victory that took Liverpool above Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after his game-changing display against Southampton on Friday night.

But it was what happened next that caught the eye of some social media users, as Salah effortlessly ducked to evade the attempts of the onrushing Henderson and Robertson to embrace him.

Yet, on this occasion he chose the right option despite the presence of Roberto Firmino in support.

"After nine games [without scoring], I'm very happy to score a goal to help the team", the Egypt worldwide told Sky Sports.

"As a striker, you have chances and each striker is a human being - maybe you have better moments and less good moments".

The Guinea worldwide averaged seven goals a season in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, but has failed to score at all in the Premier League this season.

Shane Long had opened the scoring for Saints in the ninth minute with a clinical, low drive past Alisson Becker, but Naby Keita's first goal for the Reds restored parity before the break.

Naby Keita then equalised before half-time with his first goal for Liverpool, heading in Trent Alexander-Arnold's deep cross at the far post.

"The performance was not top level but it is about fighting", he said.

Liverpool move on to 82 points and return to top spot in the Premier League. I am really proud.

"It is a hard year for everybody".

It is imperative for the English game that we have a title race. Salah latched onto Henderson's headed pass and ran from inside his own half before curling in his first goal in nine games from just outside the box.

"We have to work for it, the moment will come but all three goals were brilliant. That's the most important thing for us", he added. It was good, I liked it.
